'A Commitment to the Fort Myers Community'

JBH Behavioral Health Systems, LLC  is a private, for profit, company originally based in Louisiana. The company started in 1997 to service the mental health needs in underserved areas of the State of Louisiana. Since the opening of the first facility in January of 1998, the company has strategically expanded its programming each year. In 2008, JBH opened a flagship Community Mental Health Center in Fort Myers, Florida, identifying a need for behavioral health services in southwest Florida. In 2009, JBH sold its Louisiana interests to solely focus on serving the needs of the state of Florida.

The Center provides Insurance Reimbursed, Medicare certified community mental health services and state licensed mental health rehabilitation programs. The Center also provides high quality, cost effective, outpatient psychiatric and chemical dependency services. The Center's programs are designed to prevent relapse and re-hospitalization. All programs are Joint Commission Certified. The Chief Executive Officer, Medical Director, and Director of Outpatient Services are entrusted with the mission of The Center.

The Administrative, Medical, and Professional Staff of The Center subscribe to the fundamental belief that by utilizing modern biological, psychological, rehabilitation psychosocial skills training, and other psychotherapeutic techniques in the treatment of mental illness and addictive diseases, individuals can be restored and/or maintained to their highest functioning level. Through an integrated interdisciplinary treatment team approach, the patient and the patient's significant other and/or support systems, when applicable, are active participants in setting goals and working with the treatment professionals.

The Philosophy of the Center  posits that psychiatric and substance abuse disorders are diseases which may be progressive in nature and can affect the entire family. However, when treated with appropriate interventions, a positive prognosis is possible allowing the patient and family to return to optimal functioning capacity. The psychiatric patients are provided with a variety of medical, therapeutic, and pharmacological interventions based upon individual needs. Chemical dependency treatment modalities also utilize a variety of interventions based upon individual needs with emphasis placed upon abstinence from mood altering chemicals and the necessity for long term involvement in the 12 step self help programs and/or consumer based support groups.

The Center's Approach to both psychiatric and chemical dependency health care is holistic, taking into account the physical, social, psychological, vocational, and spiritual needs of the patient and the family (and/or guardian) in the development of an individualized and comprehensive treatment plan. Staff of The Center are committed to a process of self monitoring and evaluation of programs, services, clinical practice, and the physical plan to ensure a safe environment for patients and family members, guests, and employees and to assure that services of the highest quality are provided in the most efficient, effective, and economical manner possible.

The Goal of the therapeutic milieu is the patient's ultimate ability to identify, accept, and mediate problems in functioning. Through individual, group, and family therapies, patients are encouraged to examine problems, establish realistic treatment goals, and enact change. Emphasizing the importance of continued treatment after discharge, staff members actively involve patients in the development of aftercare plans and transition patients to a lower intensity in the continuum as indicated by evidence of progress on goals of treatment. Community integration and post discharge functioning are monitored through the Performance Improvement Program.
